Governing Body Plan for Concord Community School Corporation

 

The number of members of the Board of Trustees of the School Corporation shall be five (5).   The term of office shall be four (4) years, but a board member may succeed himself or herself in office.

The election of said Board shall be held at the primary election at which county officials are nominated.  The members of the Board shall be elected on a non-partisan ballot and shall be voted upon by all voters residing within the School Corporation.

There shall be two school board member residency districts.  District 1 and District 2 are more particularly described as follows:

District 1 - Bounded on the North by the Elkhart City Limits as of March 31, 1966; on the South by the township line (County Road 28); on the West by State Road 19 and on the East and North by the Contrail Railroad right-of-way.

District 2 - The balance of Concord Township outside the City Limits of Elkhart, Indiana as those city limits existed on March 31, 1966.

Two school board members shall be elected from each residency district.  One school board member shall be elected a member-at-large without regard to residency district.

Board Member Eligibility Requirements

1.  Must have resided in Indiana for at least two years.

2.  Must have resided in the School Corporation for at least one year.

3.  Must be a registered voter; and

4.  Must not have a relative who is employed by the School Corporation.  For the purpose of this plan, the term "relative" shall mean the candidate's or member's descendants, parents, spouse and the spouse's descendants.
